The National Center for Judicial Expertise last year performed examinations for 1 035 cases, half of these being of the category of difficult ones. 85% of these were conducted at the request of course of law or prosecution bodies. Only 200 examinations were done at the direct request of private individuals or legal entities, IPN reports.
According to the Ministry of Justice, the legal examinations were performed in accordance with the European requirements and were valid for the European Court of Human Rights and recognized in the EU member states.
A number of 66 legal experts work at the nine labs of the National Center for Judicial Expertise. Owing to the shortcomings in the legislation and other circumstances, the Center faces a shortage of specialists. Consequently, the examinations in the economic-engineering sector, especially building, and in the economic-financial sector last last longer.
In Moldova, there are 300 legal experts who work at the National Center for Judicial Expertise, the National Anticorruption Center, the Border Police Department, the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection and in the private sector.
