The Movement of Transnistrian Refugees plans to mount a protest in front of the Government Building in Chisinau on June 8. The Movement’s members decided to take to the streets for the reason that the authorities haven’t delivered on the promises made after the February 20 meeting of Prime Minister Pavel Filip and veterans of the 1992 war, IPN reports.

Representatives of the Movement said that after the Government was voted in, Pavel Filip promised to help the Transnistrian refugees to solve the problem of privatization of the dwellings that they received after they left Transnistria and found refuge on the right bank of the Nistru River. The Government didn’t honor the undertaken commitments.

The Movement’s head Anatol Bazgu said the Government also promised to deal with the small pensions and the absence of tickets to health spas for war veterans.

Anatol Bazgu considers that when the Premier made the promises, he only pretended to be addressing the problems of the internally displaced people and war veterans and the commitments were made only for alleviating the people’s dissatisfaction.

The Movement of Transnistrian Refugees’ protest is to start at 10am.
