MP Ionita defends Government over budget delay

“The Government has been always functional. Last year when there was not parliament, the Government met all its obligations”, stated Lib-Dem MP Veaceslav Ionita, the head of parliamentary commission for economy and budgeting matters, in reaction to Communists' allegations that the Government was unable to adopt the national budget and thus should resign. Speaking in Parliament on Thursday, Communist MP Igor Dodon stated: “When the component parts of a coalition are unable to reach consensus on key legislative proposals, with the Budget Bill being the most important of them, coalitions fall apart and governments resign”. “I'd like to remind Mr. Dodon that in 2009 when we assumed government we found the budget completely empty. The current Government is functional”, replied Ionita at the same legislative sitting.
