The members of the first Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, representatives of civil society and academics, signed the Pact for Europe initiated by the “Together” Bloc (Platform DA, LOC, Party of Change and CUB). The signing ceremony took place at the Palace of the Republic and was a follow-up to the event that took place on May 25, when 13 parties signed the Pact for Europe, IPN reports.

Constantin Tampiza, signatory of the Declaration of Independence, vice-president of the Public Association “Independence Parliament”, said that it is impossible to achieve anything if there is civic, political or social dispersion. The significance of the moment lies in the word “union”, when an aspiration of the people – European integration – started to be realized. The pact is a symbol of the struggle to achieve the aspirations of the people.

Nicolae Misail, a member of the first Parliament, called on the citizens to unite, to go to vote and to enshrine in the Constitution the European course of the Republic of Moldova.

Igor Munteanu, chairman of the Coalition for Unity and Wellbeing (CUB), said that the signing of the pact is not in favor of a political party. It is not in favor of a coalition, but is a matter of public cause. “When you decided to separate the Republic of Moldova from the USSR, you started an objective of national interest and there are very few things that created this expression of national unity. The Declaration of Independence was one of the expressions of national unity, the defense of borders against the invaders of 1992, against the 14th army, the mobilization of people to defend their homes. It was an expression of national unity,” said Igor Munteanu.

The chairman of the Dignity and Truth Platform (DA) Dinu Plîngău said that the Republic of Moldova in such moments needs ideas, concepts that can unite society, people. “The idea can be eternal and I bow to each of you because you have laid the foundations of an idea that lives in the hearts and souls of every citizen of the Republic of Moldova: the idea of freedom. Today, society in the Republic of Moldova, which is sufficiently divided, fragmented into political parties - a society that supports different confessions and concepts - can be united around the idea of European integration,” stated Dinu Plîngău.
