Activists of the public associations “My Dear City” and “EcoPro” made accusations against the Chisinau City Hall, saying it promoted illegal construction projects, to destroy architectural monuments and to sell land, in concert with local councilors.

In a news conference at IPN, the head of “My Dear City” Vitalii Voznoi said the association has monitored the work of the Chisinau City Hall and the Municipal Council for over half a year. In the period, the councilors approved hundreds of draft decisions that caused damage of millions of lei to the municipal budget.

Grigorii Mira, who presented himself as an expert in land issues, said the City Hall proposed reducing the market coefficient for selling residential areas from 1 to 0.5. If this initiative is approved by the Council, the amounts collected into the municipal budget will decrease significantly.

Under a draft decision, the areas of a kindergarten situated on Moscova Blvd will be leased out. Grigorii Mira said the areas will be leased out to an economic entity without a contest. Another draft decision allows creating production sections in schools. The decision says that training courses on using textiles will be organized there, but in reality, as the activists of the two organizations said, they want to produce goods there, which is illegal.

“EcoPro” head Gheorghii Cebotari said the ecological situation in Chisinau has worsened and the authorities do nothing to stop pollution. The running water is not fit to drink. There are not enough garbage bins, while the streets are dirty. The Chisinau City Hall should take more measures to green the city.

The activists also said the agendas of the Municipal Council’s meetings appear only one-two days before the meetings and the time is insufficient for analyzing all the items included there.
