The Broadcast Coordinating Council issued a public warning for the N4 TV channel for failure to respect the ration requirement for domestic content, Info-Prim Neo reports. After monitoring the channel, the BCC found out that only 18% of the content broadcasted by N4 is domestic, while the broadcasters’ status stipulates a minimum of 30%.
BCC head Marian Pocaznoi said it was a shame that N4, with broad territorial coverage, broadcasts only 18% of domestic content, while other channels, even local ones as Elita, SorTV or GRT have ratios of 35%.
The N4 representative doubted the BCC monitoring data and demanded that they are compared to those the channel had. “You always try to delay these meetings and when you come, you’re staging a show. The BCC isn’t a circus!”, Marian Pocaznoi told the N4 representative.
Gheorghe Gorincioi, BCC member, hopes that the N4 board will prove wise enough to avoid the fate of NIT, whose license was revoked.
“It isn’t fair to deny the monitoring data and blame the BCC. After the warning, there will be another monitoring after which you’ll have to chance to compare our data with your internal data. There is a status we must respect. Late is better than never to start promoting domestic content”, said another BCC member, Corneliu Mihalache.
Nine broadcasters have been monitored between in March-April 2012. Univers FM radio station got a warning for similar reasons.
