On the 26th anniversary of the foundation of the National Army, a group of service members were conferred state awards by President Igor Dodon in a festive ceremony on August 30. Deputy minister of defense Gheorghe Galbura thanked the National Army personnel for their service and congratulated them on the anniversary, IPN reports.

“I think the National Army Day is the day when we celebrate patriotism. The Moldovan people’s confidence in the Army shows that this abides by the national values and the population appreciates the moral standards and professionalism of those who are engaged in ensuring the country’s protection and in humanitarian missions. I appreciate the good organization and the capacity to react promptly shown by the National Army personnel when acting in support of the local authorities to liquidate the consequences of the natural disaster of this spring,” said President Dodon.

He praised the service members who demine and annihilate explosives on the country’s territory and who take part in the peacekeeping mission in Transnistria for their devotion, courage and spirit of sacrifice.

Deputy minister Gheorghe Galbura said the service members have the right to say that they are the force on which the people can count and this was proven this spring, when the National Army personnel helped alleviate the consequences of the late-spring snowfalls. “You are also praised by those from Kosovo, Sudan etc. where you had been as envoys of peace. Long live, the National Army,” he stated.

In the same connection, the deputy minister noted that the training conditions for the National Army service members should be improved and more possibilities of taking part in international military excises alongside other states should be offered to them. “I sincerely hope that these wishes will come true,” said the official.
