The National Blood Transfusion Center will be reorganized by absorbing the Regional Blood Transfusion Center of Balti municipality and the Regional Blood Transfusion Center of Cahul, IPN reports, quoting a decision approved by the acting Cabinet.

Acting Minister of Health Mircea Buga said that even if the kinds of activities are the same, the quality of the services provided by the existing centers and the costs incurred by them are different, while the approach to policies and reforms are non-uniform.

“The new center will be a consolidated one and wil enable to implement and ensure quality management and the biosecurity of the blood products, adjusted to the requirements of the European directives. Possibilities will be created for attracting investments to this field. There will be a common approach and coordinated management for ensuring the quality of the national blood stores,” stated Buga.

He added that no additional costs associated with the absorption will be incurred. On the contrary, it will be possible to save money as the new center will have one manager, one bookkeeping office and one human resources division.
