The national flag on Moldova’s Parliament Building is flown at half-mas and a black ribbon was tied to the flags in front of the building in memory of plastic artist Valentina Rusu-Ciobanu.
The artist died on November 1, at the age of 101. Her funeral day on November 5 was declared a national day of mourning.
The religious ceremony was held at the Romanian Orthodox Cathedral “Saint Teodora de la Sihla”. After the homage that will be rendered to the artist near the monument to ruler Stephan the Great and Holy, the funeral procession will head for the Central Cemetery situated on Armenească St.
Valentina Rusu-Ciobanu was born on October 28, 1920 in Chisinau and was one of the most known and beloved plastic artists in the Republic of Moldova.
