The national futsal squad lost the last two friendlies before the start of the 2014 European Championship qualifiers. They were beaten at home by Belarus 0-2 and 0-1, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In the first game, the guests scored by a goal in each half through Iuri Aleinikov and Alexandr Chernik. In the second half, Moldova’s defense played better. However, Belarus managed to score 4 minutes before the final through Alexei Popov, profiting from the fact that they were more in number following the elimination of Alexei Muntean. Moldova made effort to tie, but missed several good occasions and thus the score remained unchanged.
“We were better than Belarus in many moments. I have nothing to reproach to my pupils. It is evident that our game becomes better. I hope that we will play better in the preliminaries,” said coach Vladimir Vusatyi.
Earlier, Moldova played friendlies abroad against Poland and suffered a 6-0 defeat and scored a 0-0 draw. They also scored a 3-2 victory against Cyprus and suffered a 2-6 defeat.
On January 24 and 26, Moldova will meet Georgia and Malta in the qualifying group of the first 2014 European Championship qualifiers.
