The National Museum of History on May 18 will be open until late at night. Between 18.00 and 02.00, entrance to the museum’s galleries will be free of charge. The visitors will be able to take part in contests and to try on knightly clothes, IPN reports.

The European Day of Museums will be marked at the very first morning hours. Workshops for children, a film screening and a number of concerts will take place during the day. The European Night of Museums will start after 18.00 with a number of activities titled: “Games and distractions of earlier societies”. The people will be able to visit the exhibitions “History and Civilization”, “Diorama of Iasi-Chisinau Operation”, “Arms and Military Equipment – Evolution in Time”, etc.

Activities will take place inside the museum and in the yard. Inside, there will be staged the Holiday of the Mad, which was popular in the Middle Ages, social games such as chess and card playing, a comedy theater, silent film screenings, historical and contemporary dances. A number of contests will be held in the yard. The Festival of Military Traditions starts at 20.00. In about two hours, torch bearers in epochal armor will mount a march. The program closes with a live music recital at 22.30.

The European Night of Museums is held under the patronage of the Council of Europe and UNESCO, which connect thousands of museums from over 40 European countries.
