The Republic of Moldova significantly contributes to the KFOR mission in Kosovo by an infantry platoon and a bomb squad. Thus, the country is a supplier of peace and stability, General Adrian Bradshaw, Deputy Supreme Allied Commander for Europe, said in a press beefing held together with Minister of Defense Viorel Cibotaru, IPN reports.

General Adrian Bradshaw is paying a visit to Chisinau on April 22-23. He said that NATO offers Moldova assistance in implementing reforms and in training servicemen. The cooperation relations are very solid and NATO pleads for strengthening this partnership.

Minister Viorel Cibotaru thanked NATO for the assistance provided in training the military body in its schools and in the multinational exercises within the Partnership for Peace Program. Since it joined this program in 1994, the National Army deployed about 2,000 servicemen to take part in the NATO/PfP exercises.

The minister welcomed Moldova’s participation in the initiatives launched at the Wales NATO Summit of last September – the Interoperability Platform and the Defence and Related Security Capacity Building Initiative. “By taking part in these initiatives, we will receive assistance in analyzing our current defense capacities and in identifying the areas that need to be developed as well as support in the area of education and training,” stated Viorel Cibotaru.

General Bradshaw is the first NATO military official visiting Moldova.
