After the sixth round of negotiations, the representatives of the ruling parties said they discovered a number of shortcomings in the work of the public institutions that must be dealt with. Related statements were made on March 22, IPN reports.

”Today we had a particularly sincere discussion. We identified serious problems that must be remedied. The conclusion is that with the signing of a new agreement we must come dressed in new clothes so that we are credible before the people. The text of the agreement is almost ready. We will analyze the proposed amendments and will restart the negotiations on the content,” said the negotiator on behalf of the Liberal Party Corina Fusu.

The Liberal Democratic Party’s representative Vadim Pistrinciuc said that they work intensely and stick to the agenda. “When it is made public, the new agreement will provide more solutions for making every party responsible and instruments for making all the parties to bear responsibility,” he told the journalists.

Valeriu Lazar, the negotiator on behalf of the Democratic Party, said that an unpleasant, but useful stage was finished. He compared the dismemberment of the Alliance for European Integration with a ruined house. “We established why this house got ruined. We identified drawbacks that led to corruption. It was a sincere discussion. All the identified problems can be solved. There are parts and stones in the house’s foundations that can be used to build a new house. We are to work out mechanisms to ensure the functioning of the alliance,” he stated.

He also said that there are more stages that are to be covered. “We disused the functionality, not positions. I think there will be a subsequent stage when we will be sure that the government will be
functional,” stated Valeriu Lazar.

The negotiations started on March 13, one month after the Liberal Democratic Party withdrew form the alliance constitution agreement. The next round will take place on March 26. The negotiators aim to complete the talks on the new agreement by the end of March.
