A 70-year-old woman from Resina village of Ungheni district was taken to the hospital with second- and third-degree burns on 60% of the body. The woman was discovered unconscious in her bed by neighbors. Her clothes and bedcovers were damaged by fire.
Dorina Cruc, spokeswoman for the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, told Info-Prim Neo that the bedclothes caught fire from an overheated stove. When the neighbors forced the door, the room was full of smoke.
The body of a man aged 35 was found in a channel in the municipality of Balti the same day. The police are investigating the case.
Nine fires occurred in Moldova yesterday and last night.
