Cristina Gherasimov was named adviser on foreign policy to President Maia Sandu by a presidential decree, IPN reports.
Cristina Gherasimov is a researcher of the Robert Bosch Center for Central and Eastern Europe, Russia and Central Asia at the German Council on Foreign Relations. Earlier, she worked at Transparency International Defense and Security Program and the Russia and Eurasia Program at Chatham House. She is an expert in democratic transitions and strengthening of institutions in Central and Eastern Europe and in post-Communist states, European integration, good governance, the rule of law and anticorruption policy. The new adviser has a degree in political sciences from the Rutgers University in New Jersey.
The presidential team consists of seven more advisers. Olesea Stamate serves as an adviser on justice, Veaceslav Negruța - on the economic sector, Ala Nemerenco - on health, Liliana Nicolaescu-Onofrei - on education and research, Angela Brașoveanu Erizanu - on culture, Sergiu Tofilat - on the energy sector, while Elena Druță - on relations with the diaspora.
