The National Bank of Moldova is putting three silver commemorative coins into circulation, as legal tender and for numismatic purpose. One of them is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué of the National Bank of Moldova.

The coin dedicated to the anniversary of the Constitution has the nominal value of 100 lei and weighs 13 grams. It was issued in a number of 1,000 copies and complements the series “Historical events”, together with the second coin – “125 years of the foundation of the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History”.

This second coin highlights the importance of the oldest museum in Moldova, which keeps over 150,000 objects of geological, paleontological, zoological, botanical, ethnological, numismatic, ethnographic, old book and people’s art collections. The coin has a nominal value of 50 lei and weighs 16.5 grams. The issue includes 500 coins.

The third coin – “Illumination of gratitude” – represents homage rendered to the anonymous authors of the national culture. It forms part of the series “Moldova’s monuments” and was issued in 1,000 copies. Its nominal value is 50 lei, while its weight is 13 grams.

The commemorative coins, packed in transparent methacrylate capsules and presentation boxes, are accompanied by authentication certificates in Romanian and English, signed by the central bank’s governor.

The commemorative coins will be sold through authorized banks at a price that can be higher than that set by the National Bank of Moldova by not more than 3%.
