The Broadcasting Coordination Council has announced a new contest to distribute the radio frequencies 88.3 MHz in Panasesti village of Straseni district and 94.6 MHz in Ceadar-Lunga town. In the same meeting on March 7, the Council abrogated its decision to put up for contest the TV channels 37 – Chisinau, 58 – Balti, 24 – Varnita, 48 – Cahul and 54 – Orhei, IPN reports.

According to a press release of the Council, the abrogation decision was taken following the receipt of a letter from the ICT Ministry whereby the Council was informed that the analog TV station Varnita – 24 TV can jam the signal of the digital multiplex of Ukraine and vice versa. Also, the functioning of the other analog TV stations will prevent digital allocation.

Under the program concerning transition from analog terrestrial television to digital terrestrial one approved by the Government, the 694-790 MHz band will be used in a harmonized way for the mobile terrestrial service. Thus, the ICT Ministry considers it is inopportune to put up for contest the TV channels of the 49-60 range.
