President Nicolae Timofti received the credentials of the Ambassador of the Netherlands to Moldova, with residence in Bucharest, Johannes Hendrik Mattheus Van Bonzel, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the presidential press service.
The head of state welcomed the decision of the authorities from The Hague to transfer the residence of the Dutch Ambassador to Moldova from Kiev in Ukraine to Bucharest in Romania. He thanked the ambassador for the non-reimbursable technical and financial assistance of €19 million provided by the Netherlands to Moldova in 1998-2012 with the aim of developing the small and medium-sized businesses, defending the human rights and strengthening the institutional capacities.
In the meeting, the head of state reminded that the Embassy of Moldova in The Hague will be opened this year. It will enable to strengthen the bilateral Moldovan-Dutch cooperation, including within the efforts made by Moldova to join the EU.
For his part, Johannes Hendrik Mattheus Van Bonzel assured Nicolae Timofti of he support that his country will offer to Moldova in implementing institutional reforms. The two officials reiterated both sides’ interest in intensifying the bilateral economic relations.
