A new financing formula will be piloted in 164 kindergartens in Anenii Noi, Cahul, Florești and Nisporeni districts starting with 2025. The methodology was approved by the Cabinet on Wednesday, IPN reports.
According to the authorities, the decision was taken in a bid to remove inequities in the kindergarten financing system. In areas with insufficient funds, institutions are forced to increase the number of group enrollments or reduce the offered services, affecting the quality of preschool education.
The new methodology includes three categories of costs: expenses for staff salaries, expenses related to the infrastructure of institutions, and expenses for feeding children. The real needs of each preschool institution will be taken into account, including the presence of children with special educational needs or those who do not speak Romanian.
In 2023, the total budget of preschool education institutions at national level was over 5.3 billion lei.
