The new composition of the executive may soon take shape and from next week already the Government can initiate the official procedure to ask for a vote of confidence from Parliament, MP Ion Hadarca, who leads the group of Liberal reformers, said after the second round of negotiations on the agreement concerning the constitution of the new government coalition. The negotiators said they discussed the draft agreement proposed by the Liberal Democratic Party, but the Democrats insist that they should negotiate based on the draft agreement proposed before the leader of the PLDM Vlad Filat was banned from applying for the post of Prime Minister, IPN reports.

“One more round of talks was held. The proposals were accepted. I don’t know if there is something unclear left. The pace at which we work seems productive. We make effort to form a parliamentary majority that would support the new Cabinet. The discussions are held in a peaceful atmosphere. I think that the Government may ask for the vote of confidence next week,” said Ion Hadarca, adding that they didn’t yet discuss posts in the legislature.

The negotiator on behalf of the Democratic Party Valeriu Lazar told the journalists that it was a consistent discussion. “We looked at the draft agreement proposed at the negotiations before April 22 and realized that it represents exactly what we looked for as a solution. It seemed strange to us why certain provisions disappeared from the agreement, such as those saying that the early elections are dangerous. There appeared political commitments like ‘refraining from voting together with the opposition’,” he stated, adding that the responsibilities will be distributed in the second round of talks, while in the third round there will be discussed the candidate for premiership’s viewpoint on the composition of the future executive.

The PLDM’s negotiator, Deputy Speaker Liliana Palihovich said they discussed in detail the draft agreement proposed by the PLDM. “The PDM suggested returning to the variant we had in the evening of April 21. Until the next meeting, we will have a clear answer as to what is accepted and what is rejected. We included in the draft agreement the structural reforms proposed by the Democrats at the previous stage. If they want to give up, we are not against,” she stated. According to her, the PLDM does not claim the post of Speaker, but it forms part of the negotiation process.

The next meeting of the negotiators will take place on May 23.
