The widows/widowers of participants in World War II and other battles or in the Chernobyl cleanup as of January 1, 2019 will benefit from a state monthly allowance even if they remarried. Such a proposal was formulated by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, IPN reports.
Under another proposed amendment, the persons who acquired severe disabilities as a result of war and need permanent assistance from another person, according to the conclusion of the National Council for Determining Disability and Work Capacity, will benefit from the annual right to be accompanied.
According to the Ministry of Defense, there are 142 persons in the mentioned categories. The amendments will be implemented at a cost of about 1.4 million lei a year. The information presented by the Chernobyl Union of Moldova shows 283 widows/widowers of participants in the Chernobyl cleanup do not get a state monthly allowance.
According to the National House of Social Insurance, there are 1,405 persons with disabilities acquired as a result of war and 322 of these are persons with severe disabilities. Therefore, 2.5 million lei will be allocated from the state budget for ensuring the right to be accompanied.
