The Cabinet approved the Moldova-NATO Individual Partnership Action Plan for 2017-2019. The document sets out the priority areas and cooperation objectives. Thus, a series of measures will be taken during the next three years to reform and modernize the security system, to develop the armed forces, to combat the new threats to security and to promote public diplomacy, IPN reports.

The plan also envisions the opening of a NATO Liaison Office in Moldova and defines a series of objectives in the Moldova – NATO relationship, such as to organize political consultations on security and defense, to increase interoperability by continuing to take part in the peacekeeping mission in Kosovo, to make use of the possibilities provided by the NATO Science for Peace and Security Program, etc.

“I want to underline once again that the neutrality of the Republic of Moldova is respected, given that those who want to raise these discussions upper speculate a lot on the issue. I said not only once that neutrality does not mean isolation of the country. We must have very good cooperation to achieve the objective to modernize the National Army,” stated Prime Minister Pavel Filip.
