The veterans will receive permits of a new type. The old permits will be replaced gradually, from April 1, 2018 until December 31, 2020. In the period, both types of permits will be valid, IPN reports.
By 15,000 veterans will get new permits this year and next year and another 10,000 in 2020. This is provided in a decision approved by the Cabinet. From 2021, the old permits will not be valid.
The new permits will be issued by the Public Services Agency and will have a higher security level. A sum of 525,000 lei was earmarked for the purpose for 2018.
According to the Ministry of Defense, there are about 40,000 participants in armed conflicts and hostilities who have the status of war veteran.
