The trilateral PLDM-PDM-PL negotiations on the formation of a government coalition will continue today, January 15. When laying flowers at the bust to Mihai Eminescu in the central park of Chisinau, on the occasion of the bard’s birthday, the Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu told the journalists that he is waiting to be informed about the hour when the talks will start. Asked why the new round of talks scheduled for January 14 didn’t take place, Ghimpu said the representatives of the other two parties probably needed time to meditate, IPN reports.
“We had discussions about the program, about problems. We agreed that they will give us an answer and we are waiting for their answer to the addressed issues, such as Banca de Economii, the airport, the common customs posts, the financing of parties and the depoliticization of the law enforcement bodies. The entry into NATO is another problem. We must reach a consensus as their programs do not contain something like this,” stated Mihai Ghimpu.
Speaking about the accusations that the negotiations reached deadlock because the Liberals demand to be offered the post of head of state, the Liberal leader said jokingly that he does not want to be President, who confers medals and orders only, but wants to control Banca de Economii, which yields billions of lei.
