A hall for treating nitrogen fertilizers with inhibitors was opened in Tigheci village of Leova district. This is the first such treatment point in Moldova. It is 6,000 square meters in area and can store 6,000 tonnes of raw material and about 3,000 tonnes of finished products, IPN reports.

In the inaugural event, Minister of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ion Perju said the problems related to the supply of fertilizers met in spring owing to the restrictions imposed because of the pandemic confirmed the necessity of launching and consolidating local production. The ecological aspect is also important. The pollution of soil with nitrates is a major problem for the region, while the EU imposed restrictions to avoid the pollution of water and soil. The fertilizers that will be made at the treatment point in Moldova will fully meet the requirements.

“Agrostoc” head Igor Tagadiuc noted that owing to the modern production technology, the fertilizers will be of the highest quality and will meet the EU norms. This will enable to export these products. “Together with the partners from Germany, we will produce next-generation fertilizers for the national agricultural sector. The new fertilizers are less vulnerable to climate change and the plants will constantly have access to component elements during about 90 days. The fertilizers also do not have harmful effects on health,” stated Igor Tagadiuc.

The hall was built by the entrepreneurial cooperative “Agrostoc” and its first beneficiaries will be about 150 members of the cooperative. The total value of the made investments is about 50 million lei. The production capacity is of 1,000 tonnes a day.
