Russia is preparing dangerous scenarios for negotiating federalization possibilities with Chisinau and Kiev and for imposing a neutral military status so that they do not join NATO. This way, Russia will create a security zone at its western border, by destabilizing the internal situation in Moldova and Ukraine, said the head of the People’s Force Party Nicolae Chirtoaca.
In a news conference at IPN, the politician said the destabilization of the situation in the eastern regions of Ukraine is aimed at creating preconditions for federalizing Ukraine, which, in the perception of the Russians, is nothing else but the weakening of the state from inside. Thus, limited sovereignty will be accepted in exchange for stability. The same plan was proposed to Moldova, through the Kozak memorandum.
Nicolae Chirtoaca stated that military exercises have been performed in Transnistria since last summer, including by crossing the Nistru River. The military forces on the right bank of the river are more modest. Particular Chisinau officials revealed how many servicemen are there in Moldova. “It’s a disaster. The military forces are weakened from inside,” he said.
According to the head of the People’s Force Party, the country’s federalization is a tragic scenario for Moldova. Given that the current government is inclined to make concessions, the European integration process may stop. A solution is for the government to mobilize the existent resources and the military potential without stirring things up. Moldova behaves like a client state that begs solutions from the partners, but the Western partners will not take the risks that must be taken by the administration of a sovereign and independent state.
