“Nicolae Sulac” festival has no sponsor

The organizational committee of the third national folk music contest-festival “Nicolae Sulac” has announced the program of the event. In a news conference that preceded the opening of the festival, Nicolae Botgros expressed his regret that the hundreds of letters that they addressed to businessmen, asking that they support financially the organization of the festival produced no results, Info-Prim Neo reports. The organizers say only the Ministry of Culture supports the festival. They expressed their hope they will manage to collect money by the two concerts that will be held to erect a monument to Nicolae Sulac. The festival’s director Iustina Scarlat said a very large number of persons want to take part in the contest, but the organizers cannot accept all of them as they have limited possibilities. The contest will take place at the National Philharmonic House “Serghei Lunchevici” on December 12, starting at 16.00. There will perform the 25 participants selected at the preselection stage. On the same day, Doina Sulac and Ion Paladi will give a concert. The Laureate Gala will be held at the National Palace on September 13, starting at 17.00. The winners will perform alongside Nicolae Glib, Ioana Capraru, Lidia Bejenaru, Adriana Ochisanu and the invitees from Romania – Petrica Matu-Stoian, Niculina Stoican, Constantin Bahrin and others. At the contest and at the gala concert, the singers will be accompanied by the folk music orchestra “Lautarii” conducted by People’s Artist Nicolae Botgros.
