Moldova’s President Nicolae Timofti called upon the security bodies of the Commonwealth of Independent States to establish cooperation relations. In the 32nd meeting of the Council of Security Bodies and Special Services of the CIS Member States, the head of state said the dangers threatening security are now more diverse and cooperation is needed to cope with them, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the presidential press service.
“The cooperation between our special services and the CIS and Western services is a guarantee that we will be able to deal with criminal and terrorist activities and with extremism. The dangers that can threaten our security have diversified during the last few years. The so-called raider attacks on private and state property have become more intense,” said Nicolae Timofti.
He also said that these financial schemes implemented with the assistance of units of the legal system and sometimes of representatives of the police can and should be revealed and combated by the concerted effort of the special services. “The geographic zone where there is Moldova represents a permanent challenge for the security services. I hope that the exchange of practices and opinions will be useful to the Security and Information Service of Moldova in identifying the instruments needed to reduce the risks to which our citizens are exposed,” he stated.
Nicolae Timofti said that Moldova wants to enjoy security, but also to provide security to its neighbors and partners. “The Moldovan administration supported and will further support the efforts and activities carried out by the Security and Information Service within partnerships with the special services of the CIS countries and with the services of the EU member states,” he stressed.
The meeting of the Council of Security Bodies and Special Services of the CIS Member States is taking place in Chisinau on May 30 – June 1.
