MPs from the Alliance for European Integration are happy with President Nicolaie Timofti’s activity in the 100 days since his taking of the oath. They claim that the most important is that the President didn’t involve in fights and scandals, and that he stowed away from the political activity of Parliamentary and non-Parliamentary Parties, reports Info-Prim Neo. Leader of the Parliamentary fraction of the Party of Liberal-Democrats Valeriu Strelet stated that, in these 100 days, Nicolaie Timofti lead his mission in a satisfactory manner. “He managed to build a working apparatus of the Presidency. He has manifested, on several occasions, both professional and political will in the fact that he did not accept several bills passed by the Parliament. He represented our country at different meetings”, said Valeriu Strelet. The Liberal-Democrat added that, during 100 days, for a President who came in as a factor of equilibrium and someone who does not play shows, he has done his job well. Leader of the fraction of the Liberal Party Ion Hadirca said that the President, being a non-politician, tried to keep distant from political parties, to be unbiased, to be uninvolved in scandals and fights. “The orientation that he has shown us in these 100 days is clear, i.e. pro European, with his presence at Brussels, in Romania”, said Ion Hadirca. The Liberal MP added that the President, due to his acquired competence, has been more selective in the pedantic and correct choice of some judges, which is good. President of the Democratic fraction Dumitru Diacov said that the President is what the Parties wanted – a non-political President, one who can pacify the people, inspire calm and stability. “I hope these 100 days are just the beginning of what is to follow. I did not see any wrong steps. Maybe he was a bit more timid, but that is Mr. Timofti’s nature and, because this job is completely new to him. I believe that Mr. Timofti will involve actively in future activity. We are used to scandals, to noise, but I am glad that he remained calm, calculated and did involve in the daily ruckus”, said Dumitru Diacov. Nicolaie Timofti was elected President of the Republic of Moldova on March 16, with 62 votes. On March 23, the President took his oath. His first visit was to Brussels. In these 100 days the President rejected the employment of three judges. The 100 days of service will add up on Saturday, June 30.
