Nine in ten young persons said they do not have conditions to start a family. Most of the participants in a study made by the Center of Sociological Research, by order of the Ministry of Youth and Sport, said they do not have their own home and live with their parents, while more than a half of the respondents said they do not have a stable workplace, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The causes for unemployment among young people, according to those polled, include lack of experience, studies that do not meet the labor market requirements, and the low number of offers for young people.
88% of the respondents said they do not get involved in public life, while 87% said they have not formed part of a political party. Half of those questioned said they took part in all the elections.
54% of those polled said they want to go abroad. “I consider this percentage includes mainly persons who want to go to study or work abroad. Anyway, a large part of the young people return home after a period,” Minister of Youth and Sport Ion Cebanu said, commenting on the results of the study.
The young people were asked about their sources of information. Only 5% of the residents said they read newspapers “very often”, 15% said they read them “often”, while 36% said they read papers “seldom”. Almost one third of those questioned said they read newspapers “hardly ever”, while 14% confessed they do not read them. 53% of the young persons read news on the Internet very often, 25% access news portals often, 10% - seldom, while the rest either do not use the Internet to inform themselves, or do it rarely.
77% of those polled consider that Moldova’s place is in the EU. 8% said they consider themselves Romanians speaking Romanian, 45% − Moldovans speaking Romanian, while 30% - Moldovans speaking Moldovan.
“The results of the study are rather realistic. They will be analyzed and sent to different state institutions. The study showed that the problems in the country are mainly economic in character, but the young people are optimistic. Most of them believe they will live better in a year,” said the head of the Ministry’s Youth Programs Division Ion Donea.
The study was carried out during August 28 - September 21 and is the first of the kind. It covered a sample of 1 596 persons aged between 15 and 34. The margin of sampling error is 2.6%.
