No other candidate than Marian Lupu was discussed in AEI meeting, Tudor Deliu

“Marian Lupu remained the presidential candidate of the Alliance for European Integration (AEI). No other candidate has been discussed today,” the chairman of the special commission for the election of the head of state, Liberal-Democratic MP Tudor Deliu said after the meeting of the AEI on November 14, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We conferred on the steps that must be taken until 00.00,” said Tudor Deliu, specifying the further steps will be clearer after the meeting of the AEI Council that is set to start at 18.30. Fourteen persons have filed applications to be registered as candidate for the presidency, but none of them presented all the required documents. Only applicant Ilie Rotaru submitted all the documents, except the confirmation that he is supported by 15 lawmakers. Tudor Deliu said that if no candidate is registered by 00.00, the legislative body will set a new date for the presidential elections. The special commission will render a report in Parliament on the work done and the legislature is to pronounce on the issue. The early elections are excluded, said Tudor Deliu. The procedure was initiated, but wasn’t finished. The legislative body can be dissolved only if the President of Moldova is not elected by two rounds of voting. The deadline for submitting applications for being registered as presidential candidates is November 14, 00.00.
