In the same connection, political analyst Oazu Nantoi said the attempts to elect the head of state must be continued. “It is indignant that they have such a careless attitude towards the Constitution and the referendum in Moldova. A parliamentary republic can be strengthened when the procedure for electing the head of state is very clear. Furthermore, a number of constitutional articles must be amended. In our country, the Constitution becomes a shirt that is adjusted according to the fashion and season,” he stated. Another political analyst, Igor Botan believes that Marian Lupu can ask the Constitutional Court to ascertain the preconditions for dissolving Parliament as two attempts to elect the President failed. “If the three leaders of the AEI are convinced that the time of the Communists passed, they can organize early elections and convince us of this and return things to normality,” Igor Botan said in the program. He also said that the AEI leaders decided to hold a referendum, but they will probably abandon this idea. Earlier, Dumitru Diacov said it was a hasty decision, while the PLDM stated it was not at all easy to implement it. The leaders of the ruling alliance announced that a constitutional referendum will be held by the end of April to modify the procedure for electing the head of state. They said a number of experts are drafting a new supreme law. The three leaders are to meet to decide if the referendum will take place.
