Non-profit organizations will be able to provide services to electoral competitors as long as a fee is charged, under a draft amendment approved by the Government today.

The Government said in a press release that the draft amendment comes in response to a Constitutional Court ruling.

The law currently forbids non-profits to provide material support or provide free services to electoral competitors or be involved in campaigning.

Asked to clarify whether the ban also applies to services provided for a fee, the Court ruled that it would violate the economic rights of non-profit organizations as enshrined in articles 16 and 46 of the Constitution.
