Not all the candidates running in the new local elections in Chisinau have a clear view as to what will happen further in the municipality, civic activist Sergiu Ungureanu stated in the program “Key issue” on NTV Moldova channel, IPN reports.
“We, as townspeople, want to see a clearer mechanism, well-organized bodies, candidates who really struggle and really want something,” stated the activist. According to him, the geopolitical factor in the current elections will appear closer to the election day.
Sergiu Ungureanu noted the financial resources existing in Chisinau municipality should be revised. There are huge interests as regards the buildings in the capital city and the felling of trees. These should be unveiled and the areas should be used in the interests of the people.
Municipal councilor of the Party of Socialists Stas Vartanean said the fact that a candidate is independent or represents a party does not really matter for the voters. On the other hand, the voters should understand that any candidate who forms part of a political party promotes a view. “When we speak about dependence and independence, we should understand the message conveyed by the person,” said the Socialist. According to him, the independence of the candidate in this case means hypocrisy.
The councilor noted the Socialist candidate Ion Ceban, the common candidate of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” and the Party “Action and Solidarity” Andrei Nastase and current acting mayor Silvia Radu have real chances of reaching the runoffs.
The new mayoral elections in Chisinau municipality will take place on May 20, 2018.
