As many as 1,381 cases of COVID-19 were registered in the Republic of Moldova last week and 115 of these were in the Transnistrian region. Thus, the number of cases almost doubled compared to the previous week, IPN reports.
According to data from the World Health Organization, in the European region there was an increase of 5,339 COVID-19 cases at the end of July compared to the previous week. The National Public Health Agency said that a similar situation is witnessed in many countries.
Considering the summer season and the increase in the mobility of the population, the Agency recommends observing the main protection measures for the health and safety of citizens. These include keeping social distancing, avoiding crowded places, observing hand hygiene rules and respiratory hygiene.
Public health specialists reiterate that vaccination against COVID-19 remains the most effective method to avoid serious cases of illness and death.
