The number of jobless people who receive unemployment benefits decreased tenfold in a single year. According to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, 1,479 people received benefits in May 2024, compared to 11,660 people in April 2023, IPN reports.
In the first five months of 2024 alone, 3,117 unemployed people were hired through the National Employment Agency. In May 2024, 1,431 people were helped to find a job. “We see that the reform of the Agency bears fruit and we have tangible achievements. We will continue to work to help as many job-seeking citizens as possible to be placed in the labor market,” said Minister of Labor Alexei Buzu, who was quoted in a press release.
The National Employment Agency recommends jobseekers to apply to the territorial employment subdivisions in order to benefit from employment assistance. The services are free of charge and are available to both the unemployed and employed people who want to change jobs.
