Tents will be set up in Chisinau and other several locations to collect signatures in favor of the union with Romania. Volunteers will inform the people about the benefits of the rapprochement with the neighboring state. The activities form part of a national information campaign launched by members of the public association “Honor, Dignity and Homeland” (ODIP). In July, the campaign will extend to cover the whole country. The young people will go from home to home to share informative leaflets about the union.

In a news conference at IPN, ODIP chairman Vlad Biletski said the goal of the event that will be staged in the center of Chisinau is to also identify persons who support the idea of the union with Romania and to establish instruments by which to permanently keep in touch with these.

In July, members of ODIP will travel to communities to inform the people about Moldova’s union with Romania, about the benefits of the reunification of the independent, undividable and sovereign state. Newspapers will be distributed to the people to combat misinformation, stated Vlad Biletski.

A new project of ODIP entitled “Union of the Romanian Nation” was launched in the news conference. The ODIP chairman said online signatures in favor of the union from Moldovans who settled abroad will be collected within this. On the website www.unr.md, which will be launched this year, the people will submit online petitions and suggestions about the union and will report the problems they face. Through these signatures, the unionists will demand that the Romanian state should protect the Moldovans in case of aggression and violation of human rights.

The project also envisions the launch of a platform of ideas, suggestions and opinions about the method of ensuring Moldova’s union with Romania. Another goal of the project is to protect those who state their opinions in favor of the union. “Our goal is to help those who cannot defend their rights, are in difficulty that affects their existence, do not have a job, are persecuted, intimidated and threatened daily for the fact that they are Romanians and speak Romanian,” stated Vlad Biletski.

The project’s senior coordinator Andrei Iosip said legal mechanisms and instruments will be identified to defend the Romanians and Moldovans who are subject to abuse on the part of the state bodies or private individuals and do not have access to specialized legal aid.
