The son of the former President of Moldova Oleg Voronin did not obey the summons to go to the State Main Tax Inspectorate on June 4 and provide explanations over the transactions performed with his bank card. Employees of the Inspectorate talked with two financial advisers sent by the businessman, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Oleg Voronin was cited to appear at the Inspectorate as the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime opened a legal case over tax evasion and money laundering after establishing that Oleg Voronin's card during the last two years had been used to pay for goods and services to the value of over 66 million lei. This amount is much larger than the sum indicated by Oleg Voronin in his tax return.
Financial adviser Roman Sarbu said that Oleg Voronin is on a business trip, but he brought the documents showing that he declared all his revenues in 2009.
Svetlana Bujac, the head of the Public Relations Service of the State Main Tax Inspectorate, said Oleg Voronin was summoned to the Inspectorate to check how he fulfills his fiscal obligations and the verifications could last for three months.
