One million lei stolen from an apartment

Two young men from Ceadir-Lunga are suspected to have broken into an apartment in Chisinau's Riscani district to steal goods valued at over 1 million lei. The public relations specialist of the General Police Commissariat, Ghenadie Cuciuc, told Info-Prim Neo the suspects are aged 19 and 25. They confessed during interrogation they had chosen the apartment randomly, matching one of the keys they had for the lock. The two thieves were surprised themselves to find €23,000 and $35,000 in the apartment. They also stole gold jewelry, a mobile phone and other goods. As a result of a search of the suspects’ homes, the police found part of the stolen goods and money. Each of the suspects bought a Mercedes car and spent some of the money on entertainment. Prosecutors started criminal proceedings on charges of theft, under which the two suspects face sentences from 7 to 12 years in jail.
