A man aged 46 from Chisinau died at the Municipal Clinical Hospital No. 1. He was taken there in a serious state and was connected to a ventilator. Lab tests revealed the presence of the AH1N1 virus in his blood.
Oxana Constantinov, epidemiologist of the Chisinau Public Health Center, has told IPN that according to the medical records, the man had the first symptoms of flu on March 15. On March 18, he went to the family doctor who told him that he should be hospitalized, but the man refused. On March 23, his state of health worsened suddenly and he was rushed by an ambulance to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with pneumonia. Last night the man died.
This is the 16th case of death associated with flu so far this year.
