Two of the three candidates who applied for the post of people’s ombudsperson for children’s rights passed the interview stage and will be proposed to Parliament for confirmation. The selection commission announced that these are Eugen Rusu and Ecaterina Burlacu. The third candidate Maia Banarescu didn’t present herself at the interview, IPN reports.

Ecaterina Burlacu is a senior consultant at the Private Law Section of the General Juridical Division of the Parliament’s Secretariat. Eugen Rusu until 2013 served as deputy prosecutor general of Moldova and is now consultant at the National Institute of Justice.

The people’s ombudsperson for children’s rights will be appointed by the votes of at least 51 MPs.
