The Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) has announced that one of the young men reported missing after the April protests was found. In a communiqué, the PGO says that Alexandru Galinschi aged 27 was located at Moldova’s border with Ukraine (Palanca border crossing point) on May 14. He was announced missing by his mother on April 13, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Interrogated by prosecutors about his alleged disappearance, the man said that on April 9 in the evening he left home as he wanted to go to Ukraine to visit his relatives. He told no one about his intentions as he thought he would inform his relatives later by phone, but did not do so.
Between April 10 and May 13, Alexandru had been at the home of his late grandmother in Poltava region in Ukraine. When returning to Moldova, he was stopped by police officers, who told him he was reported missing.
Galinschi also said that he did not take part in the protests staged in Chisinau at the start of April and did not intend to hide.
Sergiu Donici, who was reported missing by the Chisinau City Hall, was found earlier. He told the prosecutors he hid because he was afraid he would be arrested.
“In such conditions, the Prosecutor’s Office describes the accusations made by the Chisinau City Hall and certain media outlets as tendentious and absolutely groundless, aimed at misleading the people,” the PGO says in the communiqué
