Since August, one third of the applicants for a driver's license have missed the exams. Most of them asked being given more time for preparation. This is because a commission is now examining the candidates, not a single examiner.
In a communique, the Information and Communication Technology Ministry says 11 national examination commissions have been set up after September 1. They work in the 36 national driver license offices. The commissions consist of specialists of the district Transport Registration and Driver Qualification Division.
Sources in the Ministry stated for Info-Prim Neo that the absences from exams confirm the examiners were corrupt and the situation will improve now that the conditions for assessing the future drivers have been toughened up.
Only 20 of the 36 driver license offices are currently appropriately equipped. “All these officers will be outfitted with the necessary equipment by this yearend. A sum of €300,000 was allocated for the purpose,” Carmena Lupei, spokeswoman for the ICT Ministry, told Info-Prim Neo.
“A new driver examination center will be opened in Chisinau by October. It will enable watching the exam on a large screen placed in the waiting hall.
“By the end of this year, we will also launch the “Right to Drive. Right to Know” campaign to inform the people about the organization and holding of the exams for obtaining a driver's license and their rights and obligations in this process,” Carmena Lupei added.
