The Civil Protection and Emergencies Service will have an Operational Center for Emergencies Management outfitted with IT instruments and last-generation communications. The Center was officially opened on November 11, IPN reports.
The Center was set up in a move to improve the response capacity in case of natural disasters and emergencies. The National Commission for Emergencies and expert groups will work here in case of large-scale emergencies. The emergency services 901, 902 and 903 will be based in a common area.
In the inaugural ceremony, Minister of the Interior Dorin Recean made the first call to the Center to test its capacities and the modern equipment. A conference was also held with the dispatcher’s offices working in northern and southern Moldova, which reported the situation at local level.
The Operational Center for Emergencies Management was created within the Disaster and Climate Risk Management in Moldova Project, being implemented based on the agreements between Moldova and the International Development Association.
