Weather forecasters issued a new orange code warning for the northern districts of Moldova for February 8-13. The temperatures in the period are expected to drop to -27 degrees Celsius. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, Tatiana Strugac, the head of the National Weather Forecasts Center, said the daytime temperatures in northern Moldova will range between – 10 and – 16 degrees Celsius, while nighttime temperatures between – 21 and - 27 degrees Celsius. In the rest of the country, the temperatures will be around – 24 degrees Celsius at night. There will be no precipitation, except for light snowfalls in some parts. The frosty weather is due to the intensification of the East-European anti-cyclone. The layer of ice on some portions of the ponds and rivers will be thin and walking there is dangerous.
