A new outbreak of COVID-19 was reported in Moldova, at the Basarabeasca District Hospital, where seven medical workers contacted the novel coronavirus. Three new infections were confirmed among employees of “Saint Trinity” Municipal Clinical Hospital, IPN quoted Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu as saying after the meeting of the Single Command Center.
According to the minister, 129 persons were confirmed with COVID-19 on May 7. Twenty-three infected persons are healthcare workers. Most of the cases of infection were recorded in Chisinau, Basarabeasca and the Transnistrian region.
Viorica Dumbrăveanu said the lifting of the state of emergency on May 15 does not mean that all the restrictive measures will be annulled. Some of the measures will be kept until June 1, while others until June 30 and even December 31.
A total of 4,606 infections with COVID-19 were confirmed in Moldova by now. Of these, 2,713 cases are active. Twenty-nine infected persons are in a very serious state and were connected to mechanical ventilation, while 279 are in a serious state. The death toll stands at 145.
