The National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) last year had offered assistance to 1,161 electric power and natural gas consumers, a report on the petitions examined and solved by the regulatory authority says, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
According to the report, 427 complaints of the total number have been solved in favor of the consumers, 684 complainers received explanations and consultancy, while 50 complaints were rejected as groundless.
The largest part of complaints concerned the electric power supply. As in the previous years, most of the complaints (78%) came from consumers serviced by RED Union Fenosa. Over half of these complaints – 651 – were filed by consumers serviced by the Chisinau District subdivision of the company.
ANRE director Anatol Burlacov said that the large number of complaints is due to the fact that the suppliers often do not observe the procedures for solving the disputes that appear between them and the consumers. He also said that the ANRE will punish the suppliers that violate the quality standards set for the services provided by them.
Under the present legislation, if the consumers do not receive an answer to their complaints from the supplier in due time or their demands are not fulfilled, they can appeal to the ANRE or to court.
