Over 1,000 municipal employees engaged in pavement clearing efforts

From 6:00 AM, 480 employees of the department for public amenities and 550 employees from other municipal divisions have been deployed to clear pavements and access roads of snow throughout Chisinau, department head Petru Gontea has told Info-Prim Neo. “We had to take the snow removal equipment out of the depots where we had stored them. After such a snowfall, there is plenty of work for the next couple of days. Today we remove the snow, tomorrow we’ll spread sand, some 20 tonnes”, said Gontea. The municipal official said pavement clearing efforts will continue over the weekend as well as on Women’s Day on March 8, which is a public holiday.
