Over 1,700 tonnes of books and publications imported into Moldova last year

More than 1,700 tonnes of books and publications to the value of 120.6 million lei had been imported into Moldova in 2008, the Customs Service has said, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. Compared with 2007, the imports of books had fallen, but the volume of periodicals brought into the country increased. There are 311 economic entities in Moldova that import books and periodical publications at present. Under the legislation, the imports of book products are exempted from certain customs duties and VAT, except those with advertising and erotic character.
