Over 2,000 flood victims provided with food and shelter

A number of 2,300 persons were displaced as a result of the heavy rain and floods. Out of them, 2,013 persons received aid from the state, while 250 children from the flood-hit settlements were accommodated at state institutions, including summer camps, Minister of State Victor Bodiu reported at a meeting of the command center of the working group for natural disaster prevention and clean-up, which was held in Nemteni village of Hancesti district, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Government's press service.
According to Victor Bodiu, the situation in the affected areas is stable. The property from the flooded houses is taken to safer places, while the barrages continue to be reinforced. The Minister of State said the process of supplying food was centralized so that about 2,000 persons are fed simultaneously. Conditions were created for the flood victims to take a shower.
Mihai Cibotaru, a representative of the Ministry of the Interior, said the public order in the areas is ensured by 70 police units. No violations of public order have been reported so far.
Works have been carried out in Nemteni village to fix the local barrage. There have been used about 5,000 sacks of sand, said the head of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service Mihai Harabagiu. Over 2,000 persons were involved in reinforcing the barrage in the Sarateni-Obileni area.
Prime Minister Vlad Filat ordered providing the flood victims with temporary accommodation so that they have where to stay until new houses are built. He also said the plots on which houses for the victims from Nemteni will be constructed were identified and are to be identified in Cotul Morii village. All the victims received by 500 lei for current needs. The Government will allocate additional financial resources if necessary, the Premier stressed.
